Deepika Padukone is of Mangalorean origin and her mother tongue is Konkani. She has a one younger sister also. Deepika was born on 5th January 1986 and is the daughter of the famous badminton player Prakash Padukone.

She was into modeling before becoming an actress and she made her acting debut in 2006 with a Kannada film called Aishwarya.She is one of the luck actresses to have made her debut in Bollywood with a blockbuster called Om Shanti Om which stared her opposite the king of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan.

She got her first award also with this movie and called the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award and since then has always been in the news. Then she was seen in the Siddhart Anands romantic comedy Bachna Ae Hasseno opposite Ranbir Kapoor and the movie performed pretty well at the box office.

Her next movie was a flop called Chandani Chowk to China where she stared opposite Akshay Kumar in 2009. Her next movie which was fourth in number called Love Aaj Kal directed by Imitiaz Ali was a success.

She then went on to shoot for Karthik Calling Karthik which was critically acclaimed if not a success at the box office and then came Housefull where she stared opposite Akshay Kumar and the movie was hit.

People are waiting to see her future projects which she is working on movies like Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar and then Kunal Kholis Break Ke Baad which stars Imran Khan. These two movies also widely looked forward to by her fans and the interesting part of her life is that Deepika was actually born in Copenhagen Denmark and she was eleven months old when her family moved to Bangalore.
